6 Major Side effects of Benztropine


Benztropine also known as benzatropine, is an anticholinergic agent used for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, Parkinsonism and dystonia. This medication works effectively in the body by blocking the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the central and peripheral system, which further results in decreasing stiffness, production of saliva and sweating in the mouth and helps in the movements of person suffering from the Parkinson's disease. 

Side effects of Benztropine

If every medication or drugs have positive effect on your body then overdose or reaction of that drug can also results in causing side effects on your health and skin.
Given below are the benztropine side effects if in case it doesn’t suit your body. 

Change in behavior

The first side effect of the drug benztropine can effect in changing your behavior by making you more aggressive, showing more violent behavior, numbness, irritation, mood change and tiredness. You would also find yourself with difficulty in speaking, swallowing and talking.

Body conditions like

Overdose of benztropine can results in conditions such as dizziness, dry mouth, fever, headache and vomiting.

Stomach related issues

The overdose or the side effect of the medication can also cause stomach related issues like pain in abdominal area, stomach cramps, bloating or constipation.

Problems in urination

If the medication of benztropine doesn’t suits your body that it can cause problem in urination such as decrease in frequency of urination, painful urine and yellow urine.

Skin conditions

The slight dose or reaction of the above medication or drugs also affects on your skin badly by causing hot, dry skin, skin irritation and lack of sweating.

Note: Benztropine should not be used in children younger than 3 years.
